Shelley Jackson offers professional psychological and Reiki services to the community from her practice located in Ballina, NSW. Services are confidential and accessible, with consultations available on weekdays, evenings and Saturdays. The psychological services and Reiki services offered by Shelley Jackson are kept strictly separate. When you telephone for an appointment, please indicate if you are seeking an appointment for counselling or an appointment for a Reiki treatment.
Opening hours - Enquiries and appointments

You are welcome to telephone our office during our opening hours, Monday to Friday 8.30 am-6 pm and Saturday 8.30 am-12 pm by telephoning, Ph. (02) 6686 7093 to make an appointment or to have your enquiries addressed.

Shelley Jackson is available to see clients for consultations, by appointment only, for counselling or Reiki treatments on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays, between 9.30 am-6 pm and on Saturday mornings, between 9.00 am-12.30 pm.

Generally, an appointment can be arranged within 1-3 days of telephoning for an appointment. It is a policy of this service not to book our services up in advance for many months, in order to increase accessibility of services.

Please note, Shelley Jackson will be personally available to take your calls each weekday morning between 8.30 am-9.00 am, and generally on Mondays and Fridays between 8.30 am-6 pm. At other times, it is possible that Shelley may be in consultation with a client when you call. In that case, please leave a message on the answer service and Shelley will personally call you back as soon as possible. The message service is checked regularly each day.

After-hours consultations

Shelley Jackson is committed to providing accessible services to the community, and therefore works flexible hours on weekdays, evenings and Saturdays. After-hours appointments on Saturdays and weekday evenings are available by arrangement. Back to top

Cancellation List

In the event that the demand for our services is high, or you are unable to obtain an appointment at your preferred time, please ask for your name to be included on our cancellation list. In the event of a cancellation, every effort will be made to contact you to advise of the available appointment time.

Concerned about someone in crisis?

If you are concerned about a friend, family member or colleague in crisis, or with severe difficulties, you are welcome to make an appointment for counselling to discuss your concerns. You will receive relevant information and advice aimed at addressing your concerns and providing you with the assistance you require to help the other person, where appropriate. Back to top

If you require urgent counselling, please advise at the time of requesting an appointment, and appropriate arrangements will be made, whenever possible. Long consultation approx 70-75 minute consultation $130.00

Medicare rebates and bulkbilling - psychological services

Shelley Jackson is a registered provider with Medicare Australia and offers psychological services under the Medicare Better Access to Mental Health Care program. This Medicare program enables eligible clients to receive a rebate on the fees for psychological services. More information about psychology & Medicare

Medicare rebate for a standard consultation approx 50-60 minute consultation $80.20 (co-payment of $39.80)
Bulkbilling under Medicare - Bulkbilling for psychological services provided under Medicare can be offered at the discretion of the individual psychologist. Shelley Jackson offers bulk billing by arrangement to approved clients, e.g. clients who receive full Centrelink benefits and who are not in paid employment. Financial hardship - psychological services
Financial hardship - Discounts on the full fee for psychological services provided under Medicare can be offered at the discretion of the individual psychologist. Shelley Jackson offers discounts on the full fee for psychological services by arrangement to approved clients who are experiencing significant financial hardship, eg. clients who are employed part-time, on a casual basis, or who receive a reduced Centrelink benefit and who carry out casual employment, may also be eligible for a discounted rate on fees at the psychologist's discretion. Private health fund rebates - psychological services

Shelley is a registered provider of psychological services with a number of private health funds, including Medibank Private, NIB Health Funds, Australian Unity, Australian Health Management Group (inc. Government Employees Health Fund, Illawarra Health Fund, Australian Country Health, Australian Health Management and Mutual Health), MBF Australia Pty Ltd, BUPA Australia funds (inc. Health Cover Direct, HBA and Mutual Community), and Teachers Federation Health. If your private health insurer is not listed here, please contact your insurer to ask if they cover psychological services.
Code of ethics - psychological services

Shelley Jackson is a registered psychologist and member of Australian Psychological Society. Shelley aims to provide the highest quality psychological services, and is therefore guided by the Code of Ethics and standards of professional practice of the NSW Psychologists Registration Board and the Australian Psychological Society.

Our location

Ballina Wellbeing Centre, 11 Norton St Ballina is easy to find. We are located in Ballina CBD and you will find the turn off to Norton St at the northern end of River St near the public swimming pool, Tourist Information Centre and Richmond-Tweed Regional Library. Take a left turn into Norton St from River St (going away from the Richmond River) and we are about 3 doors down on the right in a dark grey-green house. Two signs, Ballina Wellbeing Centre and Tony Graham Acupuncturist are clearly visible on the outside of our building. When you arrive to keep your appointment, please come into our reception area and take a seat.

We Respect Your Privacy
Shelley Jackson, Psychologist MAPS - Reiki Master Teacher understands that privacy is important to you and she respects the privacy of all her customers and business contacts. This Privacy Policy refers to the use of our website for the purposes of seeking information about professional services offered; or about purchasing our health and wellness products. It does not refer to the privacy issues affecting delivery of professional counselling and Reiki services. Client's attending professional counselling or Reiki services are informed about privacy and confidential issues pertaining to counselling and Reiki services at the time of the first consultation; or prior to the first consultation if a direct enquiry is made about such matters. This document sets out our organisation’s Privacy Policy, and describes how our organisation will handle the personal information that you provide to us when seeking information about our professional services or purchasing our health and wellness products.

We are also subject to the requirements of the National Privacy Principles (NPPs). The NPPs, which are contained in the Privacy Act 1988 (Privacy Act), govern how organisations must handle personal information from 21 December 2001. We may collect personal information about you online if you use our website www.well-spring.com.au If you do use our website, please be aware that this Privacy Policy also outlines our approach to online privacy issues (at clause 5 below). Please read this Privacy Policy carefully as usage of our website is conditional upon you agreeing to be bound by it.

What personal information do we collect and how is it used?
In offering information about our professional services on this site, as well as information about our health and wellness products for sale, we need to collect a range of different types of personal information in order to conduct our business. Personal information is any information or opinion about an individual whose identity is apparent, or can reasonably be determined from the information or opinion. The types of personal information that we collect will depend on the nature of your dealings with us.
Customers. If you are a person who buys our health and wellness products via this website, we may collect personal information about you when you make a purchase; or if you send queries about our products and professional services. The reason we collect this information is so that we can assist you with your queries and your use of our products. We do not collect information that we do not need. If you do not wish to receive updates and promotional material about our professional services, and health and wellness products, please let us know. Our contact details are set out in clause 6 of this Privacy Policy.
Will your personal information be given to anyone else?
We will not provide your information to any other company for marketing or advertising purposes.
Security of Your Personal Information
We takes steps to ensure the security of personal information we hold. Our IT systems are password restricted and comply with relevant security standards. We do not store on file your credit card or account details on our computerised database.
Access and Correction
(a) Access
Under the Privacy Act, you have the right to request access to the personal information which we hold about you (although there are some exceptions to this). You also have the right to ask us to update or correct your personal information when it is inaccurate, incomplete or out of date. If you wish to exercise your right under the Privacy Act to seek access to the personal information that we hold about you, we ask that you contact us, using the contact details set in clause 6 of this Privacy Policy.

To summarise, in the first instance, we will generally provide you with a summary of the information we hold about you. We will assume (unless you tell us otherwise) that your request relates to our current records about you. These current records will include personal information about you which is included in our databases and in paper files, and which we may use on a day to day basis. To provide you with access to your personal information, we will ordinarily provide you with a copy of the relevant personal information (ordinarily, a print-out from a database or a photocopy of files recorded only in paper form). If personal information about you (for example, your name and address) is duplicated across difference databases or paper files, we will generally only provide you with one print-out of this information, rather than multiple print-outs. We will not charge you for the cost of providing this type of access to these current records. If the personal information we collected about you has been de-identified such that we can no longer identify this information as being about you, you will not be given access to the de-identified information.
For legal and administrative reasons, we may also store records containing personal information in our archives. You may seek access to these non-current records held by us which are not current records, but if you do, please be aware that it may take time to locate these records, and we may charge you for the cost of providing access. Also, please be aware that if the relevant personal information was collected before 21 December 2001, we will only provide you with access in accordance with section 16C of the Privacy Act 1988. Section 16C states that access must only be provided to personal information collected before 21 December 2001 if we use and disclose that information after that date, and that providing access would not cause an unreasonable administrative burden or unreasonable expense. We will contact you to discuss how we will handle your request for access to non-current records.
(b) Correction
After we have provided you with access, if you are of the view that the personal information we hold about you is not accurate, complete or up to date, please let us know. Please use the contact details set out at clause 6 below. Alternatively, if you are already aware that the personal information we hold about you is not correct (eg if you have changed your title, name or address) please provide us with the updated information by posting the information in writing to us, including your: correct title, correct name, ccorrect address/business contact details and your daytime telephone number. We will need to contact you in order to confirm and verify your request. For these purposes, please provide details of your daytime telephone number in your letter. This information will only be used for the purposes of confirming, verifying and responding to your access request (or if relevant, your correction request).

Online Privacy
As noted above, we may collect personal information about you from our website if it is volunteered by you. Otherwise, we do not collect personal information about you through our website. We may collect non-personal information from you by your use of the website. For example, our web host provider collects very general usage data about access to our site and makes this information available to us. Our web host provider does not collect information which personally identifies you. Rather, our web host provider collects information in an aggregate form, which tracks how and when pages in a website were visited and by how many people. This aggregate information enables us to improve our website to serve and inform you better. We do not match any personal information we have collected about you with the anonymous navigation and other non-personal information which our web host provider collects when you visit our website.
